The Alphabet Gallery
The gallery aims to trace the origin, growth and development of the Indus alphabetic writing from 3000 B.C. to 1500 B.C. and further into Brahmi Script of 300 B.C. from which other Indian regional scripts were evolved. The early phase of this writing is illustrated with the help of inscribed Indus seals and seal impressions of Lothal displayed in the Alphabet Gallery. The methodology adopted in deciphering the Indus script is explained through charts.
